Drivingcall is a concept for a SITE-SPECIFIC GUERRILLA RADIO INSTALLATION ALONG THE 101
Drivingcall is a challenge to what happens when we engage in isolating activities en mass: checking our phones next to each other on the couch, listening to YACHT through our earphones while locking shoulders with strangers on the red line, sitting deep in thought in the driver’s seats of our cars in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
The broadcast airs at peak commuting hours. Listeners (i.e., participants) leave voicemail responses to their experience of the locative experiment, which are then edited and mixed into the next broadcast, creating a recursive dialogue between frequency and listeners, transit and community, place and non-place.
